The Challenge

Hartwell's website was clinical in the wrong way. Dense text, dated design, and a navigation structure organized by medical taxonomy instead of patient need. Prospective patients couldn't find the information they needed without clicking through five layers. The site actively increased anxiety instead of reducing it.

The Solution

We rebuilt the entire experience around the patient journey. Navigation follows patient intent ('I need a check-up' not 'Internal Medicine'). Physician bios lead with personality, not credentials. The booking flow is calm, focused, and respects patient time. Every design decision was tested against one question: does this lower anxiety?

Each doctor's page leads with a candid photo, a personal note, and their philosophy of care, then credentials. Patients choose a physician they trust before they ever walk in.

A single-page booking flow with progressive disclosure. Patients select a reason, pick a physician, choose a time. Three steps, no account creation, no friction.

Accessibility Throughout

WCAG AA compliant throughout. High contrast ratios, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, and screen reader support. Healthcare sites must be accessible to everyone, and this one is.
